The Starbucks Reserve Roastery in New York City is not a quick coffee stop. It is a multi-level coffee playground in the Meatpacking District where you can watch beans roast in a giant copper cask, eat fresh Italian pastries, and sip coffee cocktails at an upstairs bar. We visited as a family and spent an hour here, and it ended up being one of our favorite cozy stops in NYC.
In this guide I'll share exactly what we ordered, what it cost, the best time to go, and how to pair your visit with a walk on the High Line and Chelsea Market.

What Makes Starbucks Reserve Roastery Different from a Regular Starbucks?
The New York Roastery opened in December 2018 and is one of only a handful of Starbucks Roasteries in the world. Here is what you won't find at your neighborhood Starbucks:
Coffee roasted on site. Small batches of rare Starbucks Reserve beans are roasted right in front of you, and you can watch them travel through overhead pipes.
A Princi bakery. The food comes from Princi, an Italian bakery from Milan, so expect focaccia, cornetti and fresh breads instead of the usual pastry case.
A full cocktail bar. The Arriviamo Bar serves coffee and tea cocktails, wine and beer.
Exclusive merchandise. Mugs, tumblers, pins and bags you can only buy at Roastery locations.
Multiple floors with plenty of seating and window views of the street.

Inside the Coffee Roasting Area at Starbucks Reserve Roastery NYC
The centerpiece is the copper cask, where freshly roasted beans rest before they are brewed or bagged. The smell alone is worth the visit. [Add 1–2 sentences on what your family noticed or loved here.]

Food and Pastries at Starbucks Reserve Roastery New York
Grab a sweet treat on the main floor from donuts, tarts, cinnamon rolls, tiramisu, cheesecake, brownies, and more. You are sure to find the perfect sweet to go with your coffee.
Head up to the second floor and grab a savory treat with breakfast items, toast, smoked salmon, focaccia sandwiches, pizza, cheese boards, and so much more. You will not go hungry at the Starbucks Reserve Roastery.

Before you sit down, grab a drink, and try something new. Many signature blends plus flavors unique to Starbucks Reserve Roastery and New York. Find seating throughout the roastery to stop and enjoy your bites and watch NYC out the window.
The Arriviamo Bar: coffee cocktails in NYC
Head upstairs to the Arriviamo Bar for coffee and tea cocktails. You can try a seasonal drink, a Reserve flight, a martini, wine or beer. It is a fun first stop in the morning or a relaxing finish after a long day of walking the city.
Coffee Tastings and Special Experiences at Starbucks Reserve Roastery
If you love coffee, book an experience ahead of time. Options change by season and have included a coffee roasting and tasting session with a Starbucks roaster, coffee cocktail classes and barista-style workshops. Experiences can be booked through OpenTable and often sell out on weekends.
Is the Starbucks Reserve Roastery kid-friendly?
Yes. Kids are welcome on the main floors however the Arriviamo Bar is for adults 21 and over. Go in the morning on a weekday for the most space and easiest seating with little ones.
Tips for visiting the Roastery
Go early. Weekday mornings are the calmest. Weekend afternoons get crowded and seating is hard to find.
Not every regular Starbucks drink is on the menu. Skip your usual order and try something you can't get at home.
Expect higher prices than your local Starbucks.
Book tastings in advance if you want a special experience.
Starbucks Rewards: I was able to use my Starbucks rewards to purchase a cup during our visit.
Plan more time than you think. Between floors, food and the shop, most visitors stay at least an hour.
