Welcome to my family travel blog!

About Me:

Welcome!

I am so excited to meet you! I hope you enjoy my blog. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions or for collaboration.

Welcome to my blog

I am excited you are here! My name is Jennifer and I am married to one of my favorite people, my husband Bob. We have six wonderful children ranging in age from 8 to 29.

Living in Iowa

My husband and I lived in Iowa all our lives and after vacationing in Florida in 2015 we decided that we wanted to live there. We were tired of winter months and most of all snow!

Moving to Florida

So fast forward 5 years and in 2020 we moved to Florida along with four of our kids. Now I cannot say our kids were thrilled especially to leave our family and friends, but we made the trip anyways and hoped for the best! We have settled in well and my husband and I have never been happier with a decision we made for our family.

I know God had a plan for us here and He opened up the right jobs at the right time. As I was waiting for a job to open, I said, “Why not start a blog?!” I wanted to be able to share our journey with our family and friends.

Starting a blog

When I first started my blog, I wanted to share our adventures in parenting. My husband and I have parented many children through foster care and have learned a lot about mental health through that journey. It was a rollercoaster at times but we are thankful for that experience. We also adopted five children through that experience. We are in no way an expert on mental health or parenting in general but have learned a lot along the way. Feel free to email or DM me on social media if you want to chat about this. @adoptinglifesjourney

The beginning of my focus on a travel blog

We continued our new life in Florida, and were no longer consumed with parenting a child with mental health so I began to focus more on what we enjoyed. That was a love for traveling! Throughout our married life we have enjoyed taking our kids on adventures throughout the US and Mexico. We would love to someday travel to other countries but our life had been consumed with fostering and parenting multiple children and a child with a significant mental illness so that wasn’t possible. Now that things have settled down some, we hope to find affordable ways to continue on our adventures and make memories with our children and instill in them our love for travel. I want to be able to share that journey with you so you too can be inspired to travel with your family.

Purchasing our campervan

In 2017 we purchased a Ram ProMaster commercial van that we converted into a camper. I am so in love with our camper and have enjoyed the multiple places we have traveled in our van. On this blog you will find our campervan conversion and the many boondocking locations we have used while traveling the US.

Traveling the US

I hope you enjoy watching our travels and can find some places that interest you for your next travel journey! Some of my favorite destinations have been The Narrows at Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, Greer Island and Longboat Key, Florida and seeing Forrest Gump Point.

Saving money while traveling

Having a large family causes us to be more frugal with our spending while on vacation. Through my blog posts I will describe ways we save money while traveling and I hope it can help you out as well. Visit my blog post on ways to save money while traveling the US.
