Royal Caribbean Liberty of the Seas: Complete Bahamas Travel Guide with Insider Tips for a Perfect Cruise

Published April 12, 2026

Sailing on Royal Caribbean’s Liberty of the Seas cruise was a great adventure for my family. On board you can explore the Grand Promenade a central location on board where you will find live music, shops, cafes, and lots of energy. Days at sea provide beautiful sunsets across the horizon where you can sip your favorite drink up on deck as the sun sets or next to the pool. The kids will enjoy the multiple family friendly activities such as the Splashaway Bay Aqua Park, zoom down the waterslides, shoot hoops on the full-sized basketball court, or scale the rock-climbing wall.

There is no shortage of entertainment from live bands, ice skating performances to Broadway style shows. Stopping at Nassau gives you a chance to experience some fun culture in paradise where you can sit in the sand, try new foods, or do a little shopping. You will definitely find some amazing family fun on board and at different ports.

Add their private island, CocoCay, to the agenda for even more fun! Here you can relax on the beach with a book and a drink in hand or find thrills at their Thrill Waterpark full of thrill-dropping waterslides and large wave pool.

Check out my Liberty of the Seas cruise review below and then email me to book your next Royal Caribbean or MSC cruise! As a travel agent, I can find the best deals and do all of the planning for you!

**This was my second cruise ever, and my first cruise was MSC Magnifica. You will see me compare the two throughout this blog post. If I had to choose between the two ships, I would choose the MSC once again. Read on to see why.

Cruise Parking in Miami, Florida

First let’s discuss parking. Parking is available at the Miami cruise port. For our 4-day Bahama cruise from Miami we parked in Parking lot B and paid $60 total. There are large signs as shown below to help you find the right parking area for your specific cruise port.

Royal Caribbean port address: 1901 SE 32nd St, Hollywood (Fort Lauderdale), Florida. Parking in lot B for Liberty of the Seas in 2025.

Once you arrive at the port, you can choose to drop off your luggage at the entrance where the attendants are, where they will take your bags and then you can go park in the parking lot. Alternatively, you can go to the parking lot right away and bring your luggage with you and drop it off with the attendants at that time.

Be mindful that you will not be able to get onto the ship until your scheduled time.

**Parking was similar and easy to use at both Royal Caribbean and MSC Miami ports. Just pay attention to the signs that will lead you to the correct parking area depending on what cruise ship you are using.

Liberty of the Seas Tips for First-Time Cruisers

  • Once you enter the building at your scheduled time, you will go through customs then head onto the ship. Have your driver’s license and/or passport ready to speed up the process. They will take your photo at the counter so get ready to smile.

  • It was about 2 hours once we entered the ship until our room was ready. Our entrance time was 12:00pm.

  • Pack your swimsuit in your carryon bag so you can immediately enjoy the pools while waiting for your room to be ready

  • Download the Royal Caribbean App prior to your cruise. This app provides you a map of each floor on the ship, shows you the daily entertainment, show times, spa, and much more. You will also find a map of CocoCay Island, and which dining options are complimentary on the island.

  • Prior to the ship taking off, you will be required to complete a safety drill. PLEASE do this right away so the ship can leave. It is simple and drives me crazy that people take so long to complete this therefore delaying the departure time. Below was our sign we had to find to finalize our safety briefing.

  • To avoid the busy crowds at the pool, arrive earlier in the day or later at night.

  • Unless you have an international phone plan, you will not have service when visiting Nassau. Need a map to navigate the island? Download a map prior to departure.

Must Have Amazon Cruise Finds

  • Purchase a cruise approved power strip. This is the exact one we used on this ship. See pic below.

  • Portable power strips come in handy when on the islands, giving you plenty of battery backup for all of your photos.

  • Cruise lanyard to hold your room key. My son used this around his neck everywhere on the ship, while I put my room key and other smaller items in my belt bag.

  • This is the suitcase I used for this shorter cruise ship. I also use this 20-inch suitcase as a carryon when flying.

  • Motion sickness patches come in handy when on a cruise ship. I put two of these on (one behind each ear) and they stayed on the whole time. I actually don’t know if I would get motion sickness since I have always used these.

Download the Royal Caribbean App

Download the easy-to-use Royal Caribbean App. Here you will find the daily schedule, port schedule, and a map of the cruise to help you find your way around. You can also flag certain shows to remind you when they are playing so you don’t miss out on any fun! See below for a page example in the app.

Liberty of the Seas Room Review (Interior vs. Balcony)

Interior Room

I decided to try an interior room on Liberty of the Seas. My last cruise experience was a balcony room, and I highly recommend that as it was such an amazing moment sitting out there daily and enjoying the view.

However, I was actually surprised at how much I liked the interior room. It was so dark which helped us sleep well and it was quiet throughout the night.

The rooms were average, and with this cruise ship being a little bit older, it wasn’t without its flaws. The bunks which folded down from the ceiling looked a little sketchy to me but my nine-year-old did just fine on them.

The interior and size of the room was average for an interior room on a cruise ship. Our room was 7367 and there was enough space for the three of us although slightly crowded. This room holds up to 4 people.

Our room had a shower only with body wash and shampoo included. The closet had an in room safe and side shelves that I loved where I could put my shoes each night.

**I would say the interior and balcony rooms on Liberty of the Seas and MSC Magnifica were very similar and comparable in size.

Balcony room on Liberty of the Seas

Here is a balcony room with similar amenities. Again, if you can afford the upgrade, I highly recommend you get a balcony room. You won’t regret it!

Royal Caribbean Sunset Views

There is something truly magical about sunsets on a Royal Caribbean cruise that makes me want to pause everything and just take it in. Each evening, you can find a quiet spot on the deck or from your balcony room and watch as the sun slowly dips into the horizon, painting the sea in shades of gold, pink, and deep orange. The views are absolutely spectacular and completely mesmerizing, the kind that make you lose track of time. As the breeze picks up at night, you may want to grab a light jacket for comfort, and don’t forget a refreshing drink in hand as you settle in and enjoy one of the most peaceful, unforgettable moments of the entire cruise.

Pools and Solarium Experience on Liberty of the Seas

The pools on Liberty of the Seas offers the perfect balance of energy and relaxation, making it easy for every type of traveler to find their ideal spot. The main pool deck is where you will find upbeat music, dance parties, lively bartenders serving tropical drinks and plenty of loungers for soaking up the sun although during mid-day it can be hard to find an open lounger. Later in the evening, this area comes alive with open air entertainment, sometimes featuring movies under the stars where surprisingly few people came out to enjoy the big screen.

Adults looking for total relaxation can escape to the Solarium, an adults-only retreat that feels like a hidden oasis at sea. With its glass covered design, warm hot tubs perched above the ocean, and calm pool area, it offers some breathtaking views of the ship.

The pictures below show the main pool area. This area is for kids and adults to enjoy.

NOTE: No diapers are allowed in the pools.

**Main pool areas are similar at each location and often crowded especially during the day. To avoid the crowds, you can go early in the morning or later at night.

Activities Onboard Liberty of the Seas (Rock Wall, Sports, Waterslides, Live Music)

Basketball Court and Rock-Climbing Wall on Liberty of the Seas

Adventure continues at sea with endless activities for those ages 6 and up. Specific activities include a basketball court and rock-climbing wall where you can remain active on board all while still enjoying those ocean views.

Minimum age requirement is 6 years for the rock-climbing wall. No reservations were required, and you can climb over and over again. Adult Speed Climbing and Climbing Under the Stars nights vary by night but are typically open after 6pm.

Rock wall hours: open climbing 2pm to 7pm.

Find yourself shooting hoops either independently or in a structured group activity or challenge yourself to climbing the wall high above the deck.

If you feel like challenging yourself even more, you can head to the fitness center or run/walk the track on the top deck.

Waterslides on Liberty of the Seas

Twist and turn on multiple slide options on board Liberty of the Seas. Twist through high-speed chutes before splashing down at the finish. These colorful slides add extra excitement for the kids and adults as a fun way to cool off while at sea. Try the twin racers, Typhoon and Cyclone for some speedy fun. The slides had minimal wait times while we were there although some of the times can be busier than others. My kids really enjoyed this attraction and spent hours going on the slides again and again.

Minimum height is 48" inches. Maximum weight is 300 pounds.

FlowRider Surf Simulator on Liberty of the Seas

Ready for some surfing? You can get your chance to surf on the FlowRider surf simulator at the back of the cruise on the same deck as the waterslides. You can try surfing with the boogie board for your first time or test your skills while standing up. You will find non-stop fun here and staff to help you build your confidence. Private sessions are available for a fee, book these sessions on the Royal Caribbean App. We did not try the surf simulator, but it looked like a lot of fun.

Boogie board height requirement: 52 inches, stand up 58 inches

Tidal Wave Slide on Liberty of the Seas

Tidal Wave proved to be an exciting slide as you glide high in the air after coming out of the shoot. Both rides proved to be just what my kids needed while on this cruise. Minimum height is 52" inches

Splashaway Bay Aqua Park

Splashaway Bay Aqua Park is the ultimate splash park for kids on Liberty of the Seas. It’s a colorful, energetic area packed with fun water play features for the little ones. Join in the fun with waterslides, bucket drop, water canyons, sprinklers, and tons of fun!

This area was usually pretty packed with kids. My son truly enjoyed this area and could have stayed here all day.

Note: Potty Trained is required, no diapers allowed.

**If you have little kids who would enjoy this water park, then Liberty of the Seas is the right cruise for you. MSC Magnifica did not have a kids waterpark.

Entertainment Onboard Liberty of the Seas (Ice Skating, Broadway Shows, Live Music, Casino)

Ice Skating Show

The ice-skating show on Liberty of the Seas is an impressive onboard entertainment experience, featuring a full-sized ice rink right in the middle of the ship. Professional skaters perform high-energy routines with music, costumes, and incredible choreography that feels like a Broadway show on ice. This is a must-see performance on Royal Caribbean. I am amazed how well these performers do on the cruise ship. From flipping each other into the air, to skating fast around the rink, the talent is amazing.

Check the schedule because there are times when they have open skating for cruisers to enjoy.

Broadway at Sea Show

Watch the Broadway Show of Saturday Night Fever on board. This disco-era musical takes you back to the 1970’s in Brooklyn where Tony who lives for Saturday nights perform on the dance floor with lights and glamour. Here you will find many eras related music and costumes and high energy.

Find performances in the main theater for no charge. There are a couple shows during the 3-night cruise in the evenings. Get there early to get good seats.

We also enjoyed a night of watching a comedian, LA Hardy. The fun we had listening to his jokes kept us laughing the entire time.

**The shows on the MSC cruise ship had different shows nightly and were absolutely fantastic comparatively the show on this Royal Caribbean ship was good but there was only one show on this cruise and although it was good it did not compare to MSC.

Casino Royale on Liberty of the Seas

Find Vegas style gaming on Deck 4 with 300-plus slot machines and table games such as blackjack, roulette, poker, craps, Caribbean Stud, and more. You can also find competitions and tournaments for the die-hard players. You will find a bar here so you can grab a drink, sit at the slots, and dream of winning big. Fee based gaming.

Live Bands on Liberty of the Seas

The live bands on Liberty of the Seas brings the ship to life each night. You will find a mix of music from upbeat pop to rock and roll or even stay for relaxing acoustic sets. There are multiple bars and pubs throughout where you can listen to themed music nights, karaoke, etc.

Arcade on Liberty of the Seas

Find an arcade room located outside the kid’s program areas where you can spend your money and try and be the winner of the race. This hangout spot for kids, teens, and even adults who enjoy classic games. The arcade runs on your cruise card, making it simple to enjoy a quick game.

Promenade on Liberty of the Seas

We enjoyed strolling through the fifth floor in their promenade where they had multiple bougie shopping areas, Royal Caribbean logo shop, cupcakes, and other small food areas. Stop at Café promenade where you can buy the typical Starbucks drinks and also find complementary sandwiches and finger food. We really enjoyed walking through this area nightly as we took in the sounds and smells of the area.

Dining Highlights on Liberty of the Seas

Windjammer Cafe

Dining at the Windjammer Cafe is a relaxed and convenient way to enjoy a wide variety of foods throughout the day. The spacious buffet-style restaurant offers something for everyone, with rotating selections that include international dishes, comfort foods, fresh fruits and salads, carved meats, pastas, and kid friendly options. Stop here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Here you can come as you are and grab a seat by the windows for ocean views. Seats can be hard to find during peak dining times but eventually you will find a seat. Food was average for a cruise ship.

**Buffet was similar on both cruise ships. Same type of food with a few varying items. On the MSC though, they had the BEST wood fired pizza that you could get until 11pm or later in the main dining hall. Liberty of the Seas cruise ship did have a pizza available at Sorrento’s Pizza, in the Promenade, but it was not as good and seating was very limited.

Rembrandt Restaurant

We ate dinner each night at the main dining. Our server was Harzel from Tazmainia and Lunmul….??. both were amazing and very helpful and attentive throughout our meal. Our waiter made sure my younger son was entertained throughout our meal which he really enjoyed. He would bring a new trick each night to show him making him anxiously wait to go to dinner each night.

**This nightly restaurant was better than the MSC dining option. The food came out hot, unlike the food on MSC, and the wait staff was attentive and entertaining to my youngest son. I prefer the Royal Caribbean restaurant and food options. Now we did some research and the fact that the MSC staff was not as attentive on the MSC is customary to their culture as that is a European cruise line so no fault to their wait staff.

Liberty of the Seas Food Review

  • Buffet: I cannot say I pick Liberty of the Seas or MSC Magnifica buffet over the other as they are similar in style and food choices.

  • Main Dining Restaurant: Food options were good on each cruise however, like I mentioned, the main dining food on MSC Magnifica was not hot as I would expect but the food on Liberty of the Seas came out warm and the food was really good! Liberty of the Seas wins here.

  • Service during main dining: Due to MSC being a European cruise, their service style is simpler. That doesn’t make them bad or good, just different. On Liberty of the Seas the service was remarkedly different. The staff were more attentive and catered to my younger son by providing him with a new trick each night. If you have kids, then Liberty of the Seas wins, if you prefer to have less staff interfering in your romantic meal or family time, then MSC Magnifica is preferred.

  • Seating: seating at the buffet can be difficult to find during the peak times. My dining tip is you go earlier or later than their peak times to avoid crowds. Some MSC cruise ships will post peak times on their electronic board (MSC World America) for easy reference.

Free Ice Cream on Liberty of the Seas

Free ice cream can be found near the Splashaway Bay Aqua Park, ummm, YES please! Each day we joined the line to get our free ice cream cone. We maybe even went back a few times each day. No shame in that. Lol

Johnny Rockets on Liberty of the Seas

Johnny Rockets is a classic 1950’s themed American diner located in the middle of the ship. The restaurant serves up nostalgic favorites such as burgers, crispy fries, onion rings, and creamy milkshakes to enjoy while sitting in the fun retro red booths. While many dining options are included in your ship fare, Johnny Rockets requires an additional fee which can be charged to your room.

Johnny Rockets is fairly common across Royal Caribbean ships, especially their Voyager, Freedom, and Oasis class ships.

Starbucks on Liberty of the Seas

Stop at Starbucks for free desserts or sandwiches and a Starbucks drink. The Starbucks drinks are an additional fee and will be charged to your card. This cafe is located along the Promenade. Stay awhile as you sip your drink, or take it to go.

Adventure Ocean Youth Program

There are several youth programs located between three different rooms aboard Liberty of the Seas. Age groups range from 6 months of age to high school students. Nightly activities are included during their stay and although my then 9-year-old did not enjoy his time there, I would recommend checking out their programs. With regard to my son, he felt he was bored and they only did color sheets and watched a movie. Not sure every kid would have the same experience.

The hours vary and are during specific times of the day. Times are posted outside the doors of each room. They do close during dinner time so families can spend time with their kids. No cost for ages 3-11. Evening hours are available between 7pm and 10pm. You can also bring your child for the Late-Night Party Zone between 10pm and 1am for an additional fee.

The first night you will attend an open house where you register your children to attend their programs. Registration the first night was from 11:30am to 4:00pm.

Youth Programs available

  • Adventure Ocean for ages 3-11.

    • Tiny Travelers 3-5 years of age

    • The Explores 6-8 years of age

    • Voyagers 9-11 years of age

  • Babies and Tots Program for ages 6 months to 36 months is available for a small fee.

Visiting Nassau, Bahamas: A Cruise Port Guide

A typical port stop on a short cruise on Royal Caribbean is in Nassau, Bahamas. Here you can spend the day exploring just steps from the cruise port. After disembarking, you can take a short walk through downtown Nassau to the famous Nassau Straw Market, where you will find a marketplace filled with local vendors selling typical handmade straw bags, hats, wood carvings, souvenirs, and colorful island crafts. Here you can browse and purchase a few souvenirs. The expectation is that you negotiate the prices although many of the prices are reasonable for touristy places.

From the cruise port you can hop on a local jitney bus, an inexpensive and authentic way to get around the island and ride out to one of Nassau’s beautiful beaches for a few hours of sun. After enjoying the sand and sun you can take a jitney back toward the cruise port or walk depending on what beach you visit, and stop at Senor Frogs, known for its lively music, frozen drinks, and festive island atmosphere. Reminder that the legal drinking age in Nassau is 18 and they will easily give you shots if you look close to that age.

To learn more about visiting Nassau, check out my blog post: A Sun-Soaked Beach Day at Your Nassau Cruise Port in the Bahamas

Perfect Day at CocoCay Waterslides and Wave Pool

As soon as the ships ports at CocoCay in the Bahamas next to the bright turquoise waters, you know you are going to have a perfect day! This private island by Royal Caribbean is designed so everyone can create their own perfect vacation day.

For those seeking excitement, the optional Thrill Waterpark is the heart of the island’s adrenaline scene. This upgraded experience is packed with towering slides, splash zones, wave pool, and other fun surprises. You can go on a daring ride like the multi-story drop slides and high-speed racers or challenge yourself on the island’s iconic slide towers. Stop by the massive wave pool where you can float or play in the waves under the sun. You will need to purchase admission to this waterpark on the app. Pay before your trip for cheaper fees as it is quite pricey.

Perfect Day at CocoCay Beaches and Pools

If you prefer a slower paced, CocoCay day, head over to the beach and chill on the soft white sand, calm turquoise water, and complimentary loungers and umbrellas. You can upgrade your game and rent cabanas or floating cabanas for an even more relaxed experience. The beaches and pools are complimentary during your visit.

Perfect Day at CocoCay Review and Tips

  • Bring a beach bag to carry your towels, sunscreen and a book to read

  • The beach was nice and if you can rent their cabanas along the beach, this will make your trip extra special

  • Get off the ship early if you want to grab a beach chair or umbrella as they are first come, first served

  • Free things at CocoCay - beaches, Oasis Lagoon (freshwater pool), loungers and umbrellas, food at Skipper’s Grill

  • Paid things at CocoCay - Thrill Waterpark, Zip Line, CocoCay Beach Club

  • Towels can be brought from the ship once checked out

  • Drink package works on the island too

  • WiFi package works on the island also

  • Tram is available as the island

  • Free kids water park on the island

  • Be aware of departure time and get prepared to walk the distance to the cruise ship prior to departure

We really enjoyed this island, and my kids really enjoyed the Thrill Waterpark although the price is over $100 per person. It is a small waterpark but has a lot of different waterslide options and a wave pool that makes for an extremely fun day!

Disembarkation Day on Liberty of the Seas

When leaving the cruise ship. You can choose to put your luggage out the night before and they will take it down to the exit area or you can carry it out the ship with you like we did. Pick up area for your luggage is very well marked as to where your luggage would be. Each family has specific departure times or disembarks times, and we ended up leaving a little earlier than our time and had no problem getting right out. You will go through border customs patrol on your way out where you will show your passport or birth certificate, but there is no area where you have to scan your luggage again.

Comparing Liberty of the Seas and MSC Magnificia

Comparing the two cruises, Liberty of the Seas with Royal Caribbean and MSC Magnifica I can say there are great things on each one that would have me returning again. Here is a list of the pros and cons.

  • You cannot beat the Broadway shows on MSC, they are phenomenal! The show venues on Liberty of the Seas is lacking compared to MSC and if we were choosing a cruise line for the shows, MSC would win.

  • The food is comparatively very similar on each ship with a few varying differences except the wood-fired pizza on MSC is hands down the best dish on both ships.

  • Rooms were similar in size for interior and balcony.

  • Main pools are small but similar but Liberty of the Seas had the best kids Splashaway Bay Aqua Park and if I wanted a splash park for my kids, Liberty of the Seas would win.

  • Movie nights by the pool added a fun way to relax before bed. Liberty of the Seas would win for movie night.
