Family Fun at Adventures of Mammoth Cave Near Mammoth Cave National Park

Traveling through Cave City Kentucky on our way to Mammoth Cave National Park on our family road trip led us to Adventures of Mammoth Cave where we were able to experience horseback riding and zip lining with the kids which led to a really fun family experience. Adventures of Mammoth Cave led to an unforgettable journey with outdoor activities where you soar through the treetops, ride through scenic trails, or test your limits on a challenging course. You can have the perfect blend of excitement surrounded by the natural landscape. Adventures of Mammoth Cave is located only 15-minutes from Mammoth Cave National Park!

Where is Adventure of Mammoth Cave Located?

Hidden in the dense forest you will find Adventure of Mammoth Cave which is located just 15-minutes from the Mammoth Cave National Park Visitor Center. This small adventure park offers personalized activities with staff that want you to have a great time with safety being the priority.

Hours: 9 a.m. to sunset daily

Horseback Riding at Adventures of Mammoth Cave

Our time horseback riding was such a great experience. We met with our guide to get a brief introduction and overview of our horseback riding experience, and we were then matched with a horse before we took off on our journey.

We started our riding experience down the path and through the trails in Mammoth Cave. There were several of us in our group and our tour guide was extremely concerned about our safety during our tour and continued to check on each person as she guided us along the path. It began to rain at one point and our horses slid occasionally as they trekked through the trail. Our guide insured us the horses would not fall, and we trusted her guidance. We continued on our trail and at one point stopped to take a family picture on our horses before we finished our journey.

How Long is the Horseback Trail Ride?

We continued on our trail with our horse and had such a magnificent experience as we trotted along the trail. This one-hour trail ride will be unforgettable.

Ziplining at Adventures of Mammoth Cave

Our next adventure was zip lining high among the treetops. There are 5 ziplines to visit, and each one offered a unique sense of adventure up to 100 feet high. The length of the lines varied from 300 to 990 feet and speeds went from 20 to 40 MPH. If you are afraid of heights this adventure may not be for you as you will soar high above the trees at great speeds. Some of the decks where you zipline from are slightly wobbly, I trusted that they were secure, and they would keep us safe, and we didn’t have any trouble but just be aware of this, especially if you have a fear of heights.

• Younger children 35 to 85 pounds can participate in a special course designed for them

• This one-hour course starts at $64 per person

Aerial Challenge Course at Adventures of Mammoth Cave

You can also participate in a one-hour challenge course where you get to climb up to 30 feet high. There are 27 challenges and the final challenge ends with the Leap of Faith from the top of the 70-foot Mammoth Cave Drop Tower.

Canoe, Kayak or Mountain e-bike Rental at Adventures of Mammoth Cave

Where to Stay Near Mammoth Cave National Park

Our favorite campground in Kentucky was at Nolin Lake State Park Campground. This offered a beautiful scenic location on Nolin Lake with full amenities, basketball court, kayak or boat launch area, park, and small camp store.

Helpful Tips Before You Go

Here are a few helpful tips to know before you visit Adventures of Mammoth Cave.

• Wear closed toe shoes

• Come prepared for any weather. When we went in the summer months, it was raining during our visit, and a light rain jacket might have been helpful

• Book tickets ahead of time so they do not sell out before your visit

• Limited parking is available

• Adventures of Mammoth Cave is great for kids ages 5 and up with some limitations on specific activities

• Is it worth the money? Yes, if you have been wanting to zipline or the kids have been excited to ride horses, then Adventures of Mammoth Cave is the perfect location for these activities
