Sometimes our travel days can seem so long for my kids. We typically only travel for 2-5 hours on our travel days, but occasionally we have a long 8-10 hour travel day. There are times my kids just sit and relax while listening to music and other times they need things to do to keep busy. We often bring games, books, coloring supplies or small toys. We try to rotate the toys each time we travel to make it more interesting. Since we do not travel full time we have the luxury of being able to pick and chose what we bring each time we travel from our home.
Once we get to our travel destination that’s when the fun begins. We then get to take out our favorite travel accessories to help us have a better camping, hiking or beach experience. These items we use almost every time we explore on a new journey.
This list will give you ideas of what to buy your next little travel buddy so they too can enjoy many more adventures.
Here are some amazing travel gift ideas for any young traveler. My son has used all of these items at some point and they have been so useful in helping him along our travel journey.

Hydrapeak Water Bottle - my absolute favorite water bottle brand. I think this water bottle is as good at the Hydro Flask but this brand is cheaper.
Snacks - Kind bars, fresh fruit and more
Handheld toys - Matchbox cars, Lego’s and more
Soccer ball or other outdoor toys for when camping
Optional idea: A 4 person tent would be a great idea for those times you are traveling to a location that offers great views that you cannot access by vehicle. This smaller tent would travel well and give enough room for a few people to enjoy together. Also add walkie talkies to use while hiking incase you get separated from each other.

Thrift stores are also a great place to find items for your travels. Some of the items we have found at thrift stores are books, trekking poles, jackets, sun shirts, games, sleeping bags and more.
